Jez on Why Muscle Definition is Like a Drug
Name: Jez Luckett
Age: 25
Starting Weight: 345
Eliminated Weight: 289
Hometown: Garden City, KS
Status: Single
Occupation: Children's Case Manager
1.) What was your big turning point -- either during the show or before -- that made you realize you needed to lose weight? There wasn't really a "turning point." I've always been overweight and have always wanted to do something about it. I guess the turning point could be considered when I was willing to share the experience on TV. Although I've always been capable of doing this, the idea of it helping other people in the same place as me was a great motivator to stay on task and finish strong.
2.) What is one thing you wish you had known before going on The Biggest Loser? All the words to "It's the End of the World" by R.E.M! Hmm.. Don't really know. Every aspect of the experience was so new for me: from the training to being on tv to the team setting. I don't know what would have helped me. It was great starting from scratch and learning everything fresh.
3.) If you could have done one thing differently during the show what would it be? I would have been more thorough and diligent in my journaling. This was such an incredible time of transformation... physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally... that I wish I would have valued the importance of documenting how I was feeling at the time.
4.) What do you think your biggest weight loss obstacles will be now that you're dieting on your own? Burning fat and gaining muscle: same as before. I really don't have issues dieting or wanting to work out. The only issue I face regularly is remembering that it is crazy to lose this much weight this quickly, and there are bound to be a couple bumps in the road. The results will not always be linear. So i guess Rome wasn't built in a day type stuff.
5.) What advice can you give other people who are hoping to lose extra pounds? It's possible! Stop thinking about it and start doing something about it. It's that simple. Muscle definition is as addictive as crack. Get over that first crappy hump of getting started and you'll be fine. The greatest thing I've realized through this experience is that it is so much more than just losing weight. If all of your energy is exerted and focused on the physical aspect, you ultimately fail. It was more than just eating poorly or too much that got you to this point. There are mental, emotional, and spiritual revelations that you need to consider in this transformation.
6.) Who do you think will make it to the end of the show and why? The Black Team because they have integrity, willpower and the best trainer. Enough said!
7.) What is one thing that happened behind-the-scenes that no one would know from watching the show? The lewd mouths of many wholesome contestants.

Jez,
Congratulations on your weight loss! Keep up the awesome work!

Jez,
It sucks you had to be voted off as a result of a sabotage. However, you look amazing! Wow! When I saw your progress my jaw hit the floor! It's people like you who give me the motivation to keep up this long journey. Keep doing what you're doing, you are going to make them eat it!
Posted by: Melissa | October 24, 2007 01:09 AM
Jez,
I'm so happy to see that you did not allow Neil's lack of character to deter your journey. I am amazed at your progress and proud of you. You are an inspiration to me. I am on my own journey of weight loss working out at the gym at work and "attempting" to eat more healthy. Being my inspiration for this season's Biggest Loser I would be honored to fly to Southern CA (I live in Northern CA) and have the privilege of working out with you one weekend to share in the experience of weight loss. I hope you take me up on that.
Again...congrats on your current progress and your continued success.

Jez,
I am happy that you continued to work on your weight loss efforts and did not let the sabatoge affect your determination after you left the show. I was highly upset that the young man purposefully gained 17 pounds only to use that as a way to eliminate someone else. How heartless and mean spirited! I realize that this is a game for many.....however, everyone in the game actually needs to be serious about losing the weight to save their lives!
You've done well, and I will keep you in my prayers. God be with you!

"What is one thing that happened behind-the-scenes that no one would know from watching the show? The lewd mouths of many wholesome contestants."
I think they showed a lot of that swearing this most recent episode. I was surprised that they were showing it on a primetime show. I can understand why everyone was swearing, but still...
I was sooooo mad when they voted you off. Like how mad Julie was, that's how mad I was. I really can't wait until Neil gets what's coming to him, and the rest of the dirty players. I know someone is going to win who's been fair and honest!
Posted by: Jessica | October 24, 2007 06:51 AM
I am so angry that Neil did what he did solely so someone from the black team would go home. And I am so sad that it worked. But some say living well is the best revenge, and your post-show segment showed that you are truly living well. Everyone on the show is such an inspiration and they show people that it is possible to change their lives, even if they don't "win the game". Good luck, Jez, in whatever comes your way. You look so awesome and healthy!
Posted by: Heather | October 24, 2007 07:36 AM
Jez, I was so upset when I saw the way you were voted off. I'm sorry but that should not be allowed. I think they did the wrong thing by allowing it. I have seen many comments on boards where people will no longer watch. I think the shock factor may have back fired. Everyone is focusing on Neil but you know there had to be a few blue involved as well.
You were my favotite player. I am so glad to see you are doing well. Keep it up. At the end of the day when they cameras go away you can still look in the mirror with physical and spiritual pride. You may not be the biggest loser but you also did not lose your integrity. At the end of the day, no amount of money can buy that back.
Posted by: Tish | October 24, 2007 08:12 AM
Wow Jez,
All I can say is HUBBA, HUBBA! You look amazing. I sobbed like a baby when I saw the transformation. I am so proud of you! I can't wait to see you in December at the final weigh in.
Posted by: Tyler Dawn | October 24, 2007 08:52 AM
Jez,
Sad to see you voted off in such a MEAN way! I can't believe the blue team would have allowed that to happen. I hope Neil gets his next week.
But you look GREAT! Keep up the great work! You had an AWESOME trainer and I am glad she came back this season!
Keep losing!

Jez,
You look awesome! You should be very proud of yourself for what you have accomplished. you are a great motivator to alot of people out there including me. You have a wonderful personality and sense of humor..please don't lose that! I can't wait to see you at the finale! Best wishes and continued success!

Jez,
Though you were not my favorite in the beginning. The selection of the trios and the work you have done are great. You SHOULD NOT have been voted off.
Keep it up in order to show the remaining folks your final transformation at the end of the season.

Jez,
I was stunned last night. You are truly an inspiration to others. I still don't understand how Neil and even Amy after her temper tantrum, continues to stay on. Trying to determine if this is for real? Remember how special you are and a gift to thousands watching. Keep up the great work
Posted by: Liz | October 24, 2007 10:18 AM
Jez, I want to commend you on keeping your cool last night. I would have blown my top, knowing what Neil did. I know it will catch up with him in the end, cause Karma is a B%&*h. I wish you well in CA, (it sure beats KS...believe me. I grew up there too.) You look great and congrats on the weightloss!
Posted by: Shawna | October 24, 2007 10:34 AM
WOW! I am so inspired by you! You have been one of my favorites from the beginning. I admire someone who can go through something as emotionally wrenching as this must be and still be as positive as you are! You deserve all the success in the world! Congratulations on your progress so far!
Posted by: Jamie | October 24, 2007 11:05 AM
Jez should have stayed, Amy is the one that needs to go. I am so tired of her whinning and crying all the time. She needs to suck it up and stick to the task.
Posted by: Vicki | October 24, 2007 11:11 AM
Jez... good work, we are all proud of you. I have been an avid fan for quite awhile, but they just lost my support for the show. What Neil did was reprehensible and unethical. I will spend my time doing something else versus watching the show
Posted by: David Truhler | October 24, 2007 11:18 AM
I was so sad to see you go. I basically cried when I saw what Neil and some people in the blue team did to u. I live in LA too actually in the west side of LA. Hope u like it here. Maybe Ill be seeing you around! You look Hot!
Posted by: Hey Jez! | October 24, 2007 11:43 AM
Jez,
I too was upset about the way you were sent home. I think that was a slap in the face to all who are trying to lose weight to purposely gain weight to sabotage someone else. He'll get what's coming. But you are doing great. You look like a diffrent person. You didn't let sabotage ruin what you needed to do with yourself. Jez, you look great!
Posted by: Paula | October 24, 2007 12:14 PM
Jez,
I don't feel you shoul have been vote off like you were, but it's good to see you have done well on your own. Keep up the good job.

Dear Jez,
It was just straight-up unfair that you were voted off when you were. I was sooo mad at Neil! He will get karma payback big time, though.
You look so handsome now and I am so glad you have kept up your good habits. I know you will make a success out of life.
Good luck with everything!
Posted by: Meghan | October 24, 2007 12:19 PM
Jez,
Wow! You look amazing! I was so mad last night when you got voted off that I stomped around my living room for an hour!! You look amazing! You have been inspiring through this show! Your trasformation made me cry! Keep up all that amazing work!
Posted by: Mel | October 24, 2007 01:20 PM
My son, husband, and I have consistently watched these series. We all agree last night's show took so much away from the sincere honestly and teamwork that builds between the teams. We didn't like the turn the show has taken and so upset we may dis-continue to follow the show. Love, honor, and trust is what the show has been giving us the viewing audience. To purposely have a competitor drink excessive water to eliminate the wrong person is not the type of showing we have been following. We are quite disappointed.
Good luck Jez and keep those pounds going away- you look great. JoAnn,Larry, and Andy
Posted by: JoAnn | October 24, 2007 01:33 PM
I hated that you were voted off because of Neil's inhumane, immoral tactics. I think Neil should be kicked off. These actions destroy the whole premise of the game. People are there to lose and not to be sabotaged!
Posted by: Ayana | October 24, 2007 01:38 PM
All I have to say is that Neil sure has a big bladder. I can't imagine drinking 2 gallons of water and being able to keep it down without being sick. I think he should have been disqualified for cheating. Jez was robbed of his chance to win the big prize. Neil is by far a big loser.
Posted by: Shelly | October 24, 2007 01:43 PM
When the same thing happened in the second season of Australia's biggest loser, the person who water loaded was kicked off.
In the past two seasons, both eventual winners had delibrately gained weight, one to "hide" his weight until the next time, the other to get his partner to give up her immunity pass. Neither one's actions resulted in someone who should have stayed being kicked off.
Posted by: Marc Connery | October 24, 2007 02:00 PM
Jez, hold your head high! Karma has a way of biting ya in the butt...and Neil the scumbag will get what's coming to him. Haven't liked him from the 1st episode! My jaw dropped too when I saw your "after" picture. You're looking good! Keep up the good work.
Posted by: Melissa | October 24, 2007 02:22 PM
Jez, you are a man of integrity and strength and honor. That is what is important. And WOW I was astounded at how GREAT you look!!! You GO!..and as for Neil there's a saying "what goes around comes around" ...so his time's coming....soon!..
Posted by: theresa | October 24, 2007 03:02 PM
Dear Jez,
I was so mad last night I barely slept. Before I was hoping Amy would get kicked off, because I didn't feel that she was really digging in and working. But now, seeing the dishonesty in Neil and heaven knows who else, I want him gone. It's disappointing to see people stoop so low. They are on the wrong show. I felt that you were extremely fair in picking the teams, you could've picked only the best ones for yourself but you made the teams fair and tried to help everyone. Then not only does Neil do that, but two of the other teams were okay with it!! I flipped out. I couldn't believe 1. that the show people would let Neil get away with that and 2. that the other players weren't as completely discusted as I was. And then when Jillian said something to him, he started laughing! Like some stupid 13 year old that just pulled a practical joke. This was something that effects lives. I'm just so glad that you stayed with the program and showed them what you're made of. I'm very proud of you and ashamed of Neil. Keep up the good work!!
Posted by: Alexis | October 24, 2007 03:21 PM
I can't believe what happened last night. I watch the show religiously. He is so stupid to think that people would think that he actually could gain that much in a week. I can't believe that the other teams didn't both vote him off. Next week he will obviously be the biggest loser because he will lose the 17 plus the weight he actually lost in the 2 weeks. What a piece of s**t. He will not make it after the show is finished. Its pretty sad that he needs to cheat to win. Why wouldn't they disqualify him for cheating? There must be rules that they have to follow. If I was on the show I would leave if they didn't make him leave. I hope that none of the trainers will continue to work with him anymore.
Posted by: Jen | October 24, 2007 04:14 PM
Jez,
After the show last night, I have advised everyone that I know not to watch the show. If NBC allowed Neil to sabotage the results. What else has NBC allow. Maybe the old guy didn't lose 20 plus lbs the first week. Is it possible the scale was fixed. Is this show real after last night? Keep up the good work.
Posted by: Valerie | October 24, 2007 04:52 PM
Jez,
I was sorry to see you voted off. There are no words to explain what Neil did. All I know is you look spectacular, and you know in your heart you don't have to CHEAT to be the Biggest Winner! Good luck to you and looking forward to seeing you in the finale!!
Posted by: Amy | October 24, 2007 09:17 PM
I always was a black and blue team fan but mainly blue team. I can't stand what Neil did I think that he should have been the one voted off because its just not fair. You worked you a#! off and he gained but yet your the one that got sent home. I feel the same way Bob does about the situation. I don't think it makes Bob look bad, I think it makes Neil look really, really bad. You did a great job on the show and I hope when everyone comes back for the finale you blow Neil away because I'm sorry but he deservese it.

Dear Jez:
I have to say that I was so upset with what Neil did, that was so dishonest but I also could not belive he stayed and that you had to leave, this was so wrong, it totally disapponted me that people can do thing like this, but you show him you look great, keep up the good work.
Posted by: Nydia | October 24, 2007 11:17 PM
Jez,
Awesome Job. You look great. You're showing the rest of us how to keep going on our weight loss journey.
P.S. I'm betting, by the look in Jillian's eyes, that there is going to be some black team revenge in coming episodes. What goes around, comes back around. You were a team player and played the game with dignity. Bob's team, well, they are going down. Keep up the hardwork, you are a great inspiration!

Jez;
I am a faithful viewer of this season. Why, because I am fighting the weight loss battle myself. Every since this season began I have related to you most of all. Why did I relate to you, because you sparked something in me with your wieght loss. I am not as big as you were and maybe that is what is giving me the strenght to carry on. You are a true inspiration to me. I will be in Kansas City, MO from 10/29 until the 2nd of November. I would love the chance to meet you and chat. I have lost about 13 pounds in the last 2 1/2 weeks and am working for more. It really gets tough on the weekends and I have fallin off the wagon a time or two. But my dreams are still within site and that is because of you and the other members of "The Biggest Loser"
Thanks for the inspiration and let me know if it is at all possible to meet you during my time in KS/MO.

I am sorry you were voted off because of someone's lack of integrity, however with that said, you look awesome. What an inspiration you are to your viewers. Kudos to you, the black team and your personal trainer. You have used the tools you were given to proceed successfully on your own. I have only started watching this show and will continue faithfully because of people like you that so humbly show us what it takes to make ourselves healthy again. Good luck!

I'm glad you are doing so well. Neil will never live this down and if he does lose the weight will probably gain it back from all the stress of this situation. I hope none of the blue team makes it to the end.
Posted by: Kathy | October 25, 2007 02:29 PM
You look wonderful, Jaz. I was stunned when Neil gained the weight, but it isn't the first time that has happened. Every season someone does something similar. I was certainly surprised that the other teams voted you off. Keep up the good work, you look amazing.
Posted by: Hannah | October 25, 2007 07:07 PM
I am so sorry that you got voted off when you tried so hard to be fair when picking the teams. You look amazing. You should be extremely proud of your weight loss but most importantly your integrity and honesty. I am so glad that you are doing such a great job of continuing what you learned at the Biggest Loser Campus. Keep it up.

Dear Jez,
I too was very sad when you were voted off of the show. I can't believe I had tears in my eyes. What they did was wrong, cruel and unfair. Yet I am so very proud of you and what you have accomplished so far. Man, those folks just don't know! When I look at you, I am so amazed at your progress and how you kept going inspite of... All I can say is 'You Go Boy'! Keep up the good work and never lose sight of your goal! Great job!

If you win, I hope everyday you remember how you cheated to get that money.
Now I got that off my chest. Keep up the good work Jez.

i have missed quite a few episodes and came back to see u eliminated. i cant believe these people are acting like this. they are more concerned about the money than losing weight. Jez after seeing u from the seconde episode to finally seeing u now was amazing. I can see the weight loss from your face and the rest of your body. You are a very handsome man and take this as a learning experience. Things happen for a reason. Show them that deal when you go back for the final weigh in. Work the rest of it off. You can do it. You have inspired me and my husband to lose weight. It said that they resulted to cheating and you were the one ending up getting the boot. God has something in store for you. Keep your head up and lets get the weight down.

Hey Jazzin' Jez!
I must confess, I don't watch the show, but I saw you featured on the Today Show this morning (with your Mom). Your transformation is amazing... and you are now an official HOTTIE! Oh my goodness you are so good looking! And with your soulful eyes and caring heart (your career), you're the complete chic magnet package! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Jez, Obviously by all the blogs I hope you realize how inspirational you are. I found you to be funny and sweet on the show and truly almost cried when they voted you off. You weren't playing "survivor" and this show should be about helping each other succeed - not finding a way to kick another player off of the show. I don't know you, but I am proud of you - for someone who described himself of being afraid of failure and success, you made a huge leap of faith by moving to LA. Keep up the good work - you look fabulous!!!

I had the pleasure of meeting you and your parents after your NBC interview. Thank you for being so kind to me. I had a setback with my own weightloss efforts but you have actually motivated me to get back on track. Thank you for taking a moment to talk with me about the show and allowing me to take a picture with you. I was so pleased with Neil's decision which was very similiar to young Eric's a mere season ago. It was expected, but by whom? I do not believe that Amy! She just didn't lose any weight, I do not believe that it was Neil's fault. Congrats Jez! It is only a game. You look great! What was the bandana about??????

Hi Jez, u really look great! I was sad to see u get voted out. It was even more sad to see u tear up. Neil needs to be ousted out. Cannot believe he would gain weight like that. People that do that should automatically be yanked off the show. Jez, hope u continue to stay healthy, my heart goes out to u.

Jez -- WOW!!! You have worked so hard and look great. I have been watching Biggest Loser since the beginning - I remember you telling me in the elementary office in Syracuse that you were going to audition for a TV show - and now look what you have accomplished! I cried the morning I saw you and your mom on the Today show. Belief is everything - and you have it. Good luck with your new self -- have a great holiday.

I still can't believe that this was because they really thought Neil was sincere who really would gain that much weight for no reason. We all know that this show is called the biggest loser for a reason not so you can gain weight. Jez should of been the one here close to the finals not Neil.

Hay Jez, as always you amaze us. We were blown away seeing you on t.v. and all the weight you lost. We are so proud of you! Keep walking in God's plan.
P.S. I 'know' you will be a great roll model for all the kids you help. I speak from experience. Thanks.

Jez,
I was just as shocked that they didn't vote Neil off as I was that he gained 17 pounds in one week.
Neil is an a-hole and I hope someone votes him off so he can't possibly win, because he auditioned for the wrong show. He just wants to win money, not to lose weight and the show is supposed to be first and foremost about losing weight. The money is supposed to be an incentive and to get people to watch.
Man, you got robbed! I don't know what those people were thinking, rewarding him for his gluttony and greedy bizzarre behavior.
You'll continue to do great now, and stay serious about your health, while I guarantee you even if Neil won, he'd go right back to the weight he was, and probably add on a few more pounds.
I don't know what I was more pissed off about, you being voted off instead of Neil, or Jim Carrey not winning an Oscar that one year for Man on the Moon. Two hugely dissapointed moments in television history.

hey jez you were an awesome player you worked with others and you tried hard. its to bad you got voted off the way you did and i know it has to be harder working on getting healthy at home more than it would be if you were still on campous but live and forgive. what neil did was wrong but i dont think it was trying to be aganist you . i think he did it to get isabela voted off. the past is ther though you still did great and i am very proud of you.

i recently watched TMZ and they had footage of jez with 2 of his homies. jez you are a big dissappointment and you are the biggest loser (in a negative way), how can you a case manager, be in public drunk swearing and making dumb stupid jokes with your homeboys about your biggest loser experience. you were a hot mess before you went on that show. while you were on the show, you were so humble, now look at you...arrogant and a drunk. you really let me down

YOU ARE RIGHT THE BLACK TEAM MADE IT.. I WAS VOTING FOR NEIL... IM SORRY BUT I HAVE TO GO WITH MY INSTINCT.... NEIL WAS VOTED OFF IN WEEK 14.

Hey Jez,
I agree with the others when they said that the way you were voted off was just wrong. Neil probably should have been disqualified. :P
I saw the you on the finale and you looked so good. Great job and good luck in the future! :)
