Way to go Ali!!! I've watched the show from the beginning I've cried and laughed with you guys! I held my breath and prayed for you and Kelly during weighins and cried again! I am 50 pounds overweight and I want so bad to lose it! I really wanted you to win!!! I love you guys!!! You deserve it!!

Congrats girl, you sooo deserve it! You look awesome and your dedication is unbelievable. You and the rest of the biggest losers inspired me weeks ago to get in shape. I remember how you would push yourself, or how Jillian would push you. That's what it takes..if you can do it, so can I!

Ali - wow!!!! I am so addicted to BL this season, mostly because of your transformation. Everyone, though, did so amazingly well, and that must be partly due to Jillian's return to campus. Jillian and Bob work so well together to movtivate and encourage the contestants - even those who looked like they'd just quit and were voted off early on came back with incredible results. Whatever the formula is, it's a winning one, and you have the country inspired!!! I'm so proud for all of you, and I wish to capture that energy and lose the 50 lbs. I need to lose. I SO wish I could take that time out of my real life and be a contestant, lose weight and get healthy like it's my only job for four months!!! What a gift you've all been given. Congratulations to you, and to NBC for promoting healthy eating and exercise as the way to get there - no shortcuts, no surgery - just old fashioned motivation with attainable goals (as impossible as those may have seemed initially) and good food choices. BRAVO!!!

But don't think it was fare to bring back the ones that has already been voted out.The winner should have been one that was there through it all.

I am disappointed with the outcome. I feel that Ali lost the majority of her weight at home and not under the scrutiny of the cameras or coaches. She lost so much while she was "away" that our group wondered if she had used diet pills or any other purchased help to get that weight loss. We'll never know. That doubt alone should be why people shouldn't be able to come back and compete with the people who are being watched and scrutinized 24 hours. The best part of BL is that it promotes good healthy eating and exercise. Having a winner that could've gone outside of those ideals.... just not acceptable.
Posted by: Bella | April 16, 2008 11:34 AM
Bella does have a point.. I am happy for Ali. She worked hard and looks wonderful. But I don't think they should have people come back on the show once they have been voted off.. There is a strategy behind their voting a member off. and bringing them back defeats that...
And your right Bella, she wasn't being watched for the weeks she was home, so who know what could have taken place.
I'm not accussing, just wondering....
Well, congrats to Ali! You look wonderful, a bit too skinny, but wonderful and happy! And the happiness counts!
Posted by: Nancy | April 16, 2008 11:53 AM
I agree 100% with both Bella and Nancy. All the contestants did a great job!
Posted by: Jujubee | April 16, 2008 12:13 PM
I believe Ali... took weight loss drugs I don't believe she lost all the weight she did on a diet and working out like the other contestants! I don't believe it was a fair victory!
Posted by: B | April 16, 2008 12:14 PM
You know what? I doubted Ali when she first came back. I doubted how she lost the weight just like others here are saying. BUT - when she was on the Ranch, back in the game, I really saw how hard she worked and she continued to post a good loss week after week. I am so proud of her, and this really encourages me to keep pluggling along through my palteau. Way to go Ali. You look fantastic and deserved your win.

It's nice to see a female Biggest Loser winner this time. I don't think Ali used diet pills, in spite of what some of the other viewers might think. Weight can be lost without diet pills. I lost over 70 lbs through a combination of healthy eating and exercise.
Cheers to you Ali!

I'm not sure if people really understand what you have to do to look like Ali. She is toned and looks awesome. Diet drugs don't do that, hard work and eating right does. As for her coming back...so did Mark. There's a loop every season and this was one of them. Was it fair for her to go home in the first place? Great job Ali, I was hoping you'd do it.
Posted by: Anonymous | April 16, 2008 12:56 PM
Well congrats to Ali, I just love the show it gives inspiration to all who needs to lose weight.
Posted by: Della Sue J | April 16, 2008 12:57 PM
I hear what you are all saying that maybe Ali had additional "help" while she was off the show, but I don't think she could've really had the results she did unless she made major lifestyle changes. My opinion is that she learned all she could while she was originally at the ranch and took that information home with her to make a tremendous transformation. Personally, I think she did an awesome job not having Bob or Jillian around to push her & doing most of it all on her own. Way to go Ali! You and the rest of the BL's have inspired me. I have made small steps to make changes myself. I have started keeping track of everything I eat & I just joined a gym and will be meeting with a personal trainer on a weekly basis so that I can achieve success like all of you did!
Posted by: Rochelle S. | April 16, 2008 12:59 PM
Ali-you look great! In fact everyone looks great! You worked hard while on the ranch and I think you deserve it! Yes, the show and its outcome would have been different if you and Mark had not been allowed back on the show, but for the comments made about diet pills, well...I don't know that that is fair to say. The final four contestants went home for six weeks. I am sure they were not under scrutiny every hour of the day. Anyone could have used diet pills. Be happy for all the contestants. Ali you worked your butt off when you came back to the ranch and you posted huge numbers. You have accomplished so much and should be very proud of yourself.
Posted by: JW | April 16, 2008 01:04 PM
Ali- you look awesome! You have accomplished so much and I am thrilled to see a female biggest loser. You and the rest of the contestants have been a big inspiration and a motivator for me to get back on track and do what I need to in order to loose weight and get healthy. I believe you won because you had the drive it takes to accomplish what you set out to do and you worked hard everyday. Thanks for your inspiration.

Way to go Ali, I was so happy to see you win. I think you did everything by the book. An idea for next year might be to have 2 teams, men on one and women on the other so that no one has an unfair advantage as to how much weight the men and women lose. Instead of couples again, why not men on one team and women on another team?
Posted by: Toni Eilbert | April 16, 2008 01:43 PM
GREAT JOB, WOMAN! You had the right stuff from day one when you made the statement that you were going to be (not that you wanted to be), the first woman biggest loser! You kept that fire alive and well inside you, even though you were voted off. I was amazed by your transformation when you came back, which only goes to show that you should never stop going, because good things will happen if you stay the course!
Posted by: Ellen | April 16, 2008 01:52 PM

Congratulations, Ali! I am happy that you won. You look fabulous!
As for diet pills, etc., I don't believe you used them. I know from personal experience that a person can have the results you did with diet and exercise.
It takes a lot of dedication, motivation, time, healthy eating to achieve the results you did. Of course, having a personal trainer or a knowledgeable workout partner is a huge plus.
I hope you continue to live a healthy lifestyle and have many happy years ahead.
Posted by: S | April 16, 2008 02:49 PM
Ali, I am so PROUD of you!!! What you did was amazing, and I was stoked to finally see a female BL. You really pushed yourself to the limit and you made it!!!! I started clapping when I saw your results, I was rooting for you to win the whole time!! The results you've acheived are clearly from diet and exercise -- some people might want to believe you took diet pills because they want a quick fix or magic solution to their own weight loss, but watching you push yourself to your limits week after week convinced me that you didn't NEED any supplements to win. All you needed was your own motivation and perseverence.
WAY TO GO ALI!!!

there will never be any doubt now that a woman can compete against these men and win!!!! we have Ali that won and kelly that was right beside her.a great job by all.i don't believe drugs played a part.i am a believer that hard work payed off and in doing so has inspired all of us to obtain our weight goals.....go girl go!!!!!! we all love ya.........thanks for the entertainment.

I am so glad that a woman won.I was rooting for Kelly because she had not been an athlete before. Both Roger and Ali knew how to train from being athletes . I was sorry the show ended on such an abrupt note. I wish there had been time for reaction and comments from Ali and Jillian. You could not see what was happening because of all the confetti. They needed one less comercial.

what a great ending to a fabulous show.Ali and kelly did a great job and i'm so glad ali won.i don't believe pills of any kind played a part in her loss.i am a believer and one could see she was meeting or beating every challenge.she deserves honors and i hope we hear more about her in the future..go girl go!!! and thanks for all your inspirarion to prove that women can beat men at a challenge if their desire and heart is big enough.best of luck in all you do.maybe you should be jillians side kick...haha

I just wanted to see if anyone has found Ali's weight loss numbers from week to week while she was home. If Ali kept track, I would love to know how much she lost each week while not on campus. She's been such an inspiration that I'm putting a timeline of her weight loss up in my bedroom and am shooting to do HALF what she did to get back into shape. If anyone has found this info (or Ali, if you're reading...if you could post it)...I would greatly appreciate knowing that info! Thanks!

Go Ali!
I am so excited for you, I jumped up when you won and gave my husband a high five. I am 35 years old and gained 50 pounds with my second child. I lost the weight on my own by doing a weight watchers type plan. I hit a plateau at 140 and gave up, after watching you, I know it is possible and you have inspired me to watch what I put in my mouth and get up and move my butt, even when I am tired. You have the power of believing in the impossible! I am so inspired by you.
God Bless, Lynda

I was excited to see Ali win! Although I wonder if the producers should reconsider the length of the show-- several contestants (Ali and Mark included) actually had to go below their goal weight just to stay competitive at the end. That doesn't seem right. I also didn't like the twist of bringing back eliminated players nor letting America vote at the end. I also think they should have had each couple weigh in together and the team with the greatest weight loss also get a prize... just some of my thoughts.
But congratulations to Ali-- she certainly worked hard and it payed off! Wow!!
Posted by: A fan | April 16, 2008 05:23 PM
Go Ali!!! You have been the best contestant that BL has ever had. Your determination to win against all odds has proven to many overweight Americans that it is possible if you put your all in all into it. Maybe a large part of your weight was lost while you away from campus but you stuck to your goals. I would like to know what your daily intake of calories were? I know you guys had to eat regularly but the show did not show your particular daily foods. You are my inspiration, GOOD JOB GIRL!!

I congratulate Ali on her weight loss but I don't think she did it honestly. I do not think that she or Mark should have been brought back onto the show. I think there are too many pills that they could have taken at home to enhance their weight loss. I liked Ali in the beginning but once she came back she was a different person. I also feel that Jillian let Kelly down by focusing more on Ali's progress. I loved this season except for the finale.

Ali did a great job but I still don't think that she and Mark should have been in the running for the biggest loser. They had voted off and should not have been allowed to return. It should have been someone who was there on the ranch the entire time. I hope the producers don't do that again.

If this show had followed it's original title "The Biggest Loser - Couples" it would have been won by Dan and Jackie! The finish would have gone like this if they calculated the % loss from the couples orginal weights and loses:
Dan/Jackie - 40.46%
Mark/Jay - 40.14%
Ali/Betty-Sue - 37.78%
Roger/Trent - 37.42%
Bernie/Brittany - 37.1%
Curtis/Mallory - 35.95%
Amanda/Neil - 29.18%
Maggie/Jen - 27.18%
Lynn/Jenni - 19.82%
(Kelly/Paul did not have a combined final weigh in so they would have to be disqualifed)
This is how this show SHOULD have gone!

Ali You are awesome!!! So are all of you!! And for all of you nay sayers, well you should be ashamed of yourselves!! Your sitting on your butts picking this thing apart with all of your negativity. Its not Ali's fault how BL decided to run this season!! She had every right to contend and she did and won!! You don't get her body by pills. Its sheer determination and nutritional education. And if you watched the show closely at the end of every episode it explained that ALL the contestants were closely watched by the BL doctors. These people inspired America to lose over one million pounds. So please let them enjoy their success without all of your negative opinions!!!
Posted by: Vickie | April 17, 2008 08:34 AM
Ali you rock!! You and Kelly have inspired me and are the only reason I watched this season. I have never really watched but a show here and there and you changed that. You have motivated me to lose the 25 lbs I keep saying I am going to do!!
PS - Love your mom!!

Ali, you are simply awesome, a true inspiration. I have wanted you to win since you returned to campus and kicked everyone's ass at the weigh-ins. I knew you had won when you smiled in response to hearing the amount of weight you needed to lose in order to top Roger. When they announced you as the winner, I said to my mother, "Now that's proof that visualization works." I absolutely love the clip of you telling everyone that you are the first female biggest loser during your elimation so early on. I wanted you to win because you proved that we can all do this without being restricted to campus, with a fabulous trainer and all the best equipment. I love your spirit and determination. Please consider writing a book and/or DVD for us still on our journey. I cannot praise you enough. I am so proud of you and all you have accomplished. Well done!!!

Ali you are hot mom
Posted by: K | April 17, 2008 02:45 PM
first of all, for those that think ali did diet pills that is insane. she busted her body to the limit and got amazing results. if you all had the motivation she did, then you could look the same. i bust my butt at the gym 5 days a week and train for distance runs and triathlons. it takes hard work and eating right. you can't do it with diet pills, you would end up having electrolyte imbalance or cardiac issues. Ali is a total inspiration and deserves to get all that she did. hard work and determination is her key to success.
second of all, the whole show is about twists and turns, so yes, bringing them back was a twist, but that is what a reality show is about, so stop whining.
congrats ali, you are an inspiration. a well deserved and well played win!

Ali,
you were truly an inspiration. Physically and emotionally. I was completely addicted to the BL partly due to your transformation and partly due to the fact that I love Jillian. (And I am not a tv fan). I could actually see and feel the determination that you had. You were evidently convinced you would win from the moment you were sent home and I am so impressed by the fact that you didn't give up on that committment. I am not a person who has weight but you definitly inspired me as a woman to accomplish anything and everything that I put my heart into as well as to maintain a happy and healthy lifestyle. Your changing moment seemed to be the heart-to-heart you had with your mom on the show and I think that is great information for all of us to remember. We can't be anything until we heal the inside first. Congratulations, you deserve it and I am so happy for you and your future. You are definitly a hot mama now!! :) he he

Ok You guys...Bella, shannon and I forgot the other one....ALI DID NOT CHEAT! She never touched any kind of supplement not even extra vitamins! she just worked her butt off. Frankly, and I was one of the contestants so I think I am qualified to say.... It is MUCH harder to lose at home. It is a luxury to stay on the ranch and train and have Jillian and Bob....not even just because of the trainers...but because life is full and many distractions! Come on you three... give a girl a break.Honestly, We ( pink team) NEVER fell below the line in the first place...in FACT Ali is the ONLY player ( besides me) that NEVER WENT BELOW THE LINE... the whole series. So not only did she desedrve to come back on the show...but I suggest she should never have left!
I guess I sound like a mama bear in response to your accusations... but I am also a contestant that knows the inside of the game.....
I also know what it is like to do diet pills. heck i am 53 and there isn't a weight loss program out there that I haven't done!and they don't work! at least for long! Only hard work REALLY works. Ali worked hard. She IS amazing!I had a front row seat! I witnessed her hard work and tenacity and pain.
If you want to know the secret.....well... Every morning Ali rang a little bell and said...." believe it be it!" ( I wanted to throw the bell out the window! ;) She SAW the desired end result (confetti and her!) and then she gave her all. And I do mean her all!..She borrowed money for her bills..and devoted her life(and sweat and tears and habits) to this pursuit. That is how you create results.....can you? only if you are willing to pay the price. To those of you who congratulate Ali....THANKS for your support. She is pure and humbled by peoples love and support. She would say so herself but as you can imagine she is on a worldwind of press junkets! So take it from me..Thanks!

Ali, Congratulations!! I had a wonderful time watching this season of BL. It was amazing to see all the transformations! I believe Ali did win fair and square...she worked hard to be where she is and I'm proud of her! Great Job, Ali!!
The only thing that makes me sad is that I invested so much time in watching all the contestants battle it through; I watched their struggles and victories, but right at the end of BL they say "Yippee, Ali wins" and the show is OVER! OVER what!?
I mean I didn't get a chance to see her CELEBRATE her greatest Victory! What's up with that?!
I hope that the next season isn't like that...at least we should be given the chance to witness more of the celebration, to see her family and friends reactions, to maybe have her talk a bit about how she's feeling at that moment...Give me SOMETHING...Geez, I've only invested a few good weeks into these peoples lives...I'd like to experience the Greatest final hour ever!
I mean, am I right or am I RIGHT?!?!

Congrats ALI!!! You look awesome. I think it is great Betty Sue responded to the diet pills criticism. You can't get muscles and a body like that from diet pills. That was pure old-fashioned hard work. Maybe we should all try it!! Then America wouldn't be so fat and lazy.

Ali...WOW! You look awesome! I especially admire your strength and determination. I am so proud of you and appreciate the fact that you didn't play all those rotten games everyone else did! You won fair and square! You can tell that you were always a beautiful swan just dying to get out! So glad you did because you are an inspiration to us all! Thanks for being in this world!!

Bette-Sue! You rock! I enjoyed watching you on the show as well! You looked GREAT at the finale! You Go Girl!

Hi Betty Sue - Since you're reading I want to tell you that YOU did great too! You must be so proud of yourself and of course, your daughter. It was very nice to see Ali's sister (looked so much like her) in the audience at the finale. Ali is a force that everyone reckoned with, and she won! I'm really glad she did. This group of finalists were all such great people, I wouldn't have been disappointed if any of them had won. This was the best BL season yet, and inspired people all over the country to lose a collective 1,000,000 plus pounds! Anyway, Betty Sue, way to go, and I hope that your family enjoys this success and subsequent healthy future for many, many years to come. You all deserve it.

I've was a casual viewer of Biggest Loser from Season One. This year my #1 priority was my health. I began watching Biggest Loser Season 5 diligently. Ali was my hero from the first day. In fact, I have the "Got Milk?" ad hanging in my office to show that with focus you can accomplish anything. As of today, I've lost 17.8 lbs and exercising regularly. ALI - I want to congratulate you on your transformation. IMPOSSIBLE is a positive word in my vocabulary!
Thanks for the inspiration.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Biggest Loser. You may not have won the money but you have lost the weight and are really the Biggest Winners!
After Ali won, I was disappointed in that they said "Ali, You are the Biggest Loser." Then the show was over. Nothing else. How could the producers do that to anyone? I felt there should have been more to it. Maybe Ali to give some sort of testimony, see her family on stage cheering her.

Congratulations to Ali for the big win. You look stunning! Actually both members of the pink team were pretty awesome so congratulations to both of you on your weight loss success and new great looks.
I can only imagine what kind of dedication and work it took to get your results. Had to be brutal. Ever thought of putting it together in a book? I would definitely buy it.
Anyway, you look great.

Bette-Sue
I am almost the same age as you and have 2 young daughters and you are darn right to say your daughter worked her butt off.
One thing - did anyone else have those WOW! moments when they showed the pictures FIRST taken at the ranch? Even Lynn looked so different. ALL of them were just phenomenal.
One of the things that really struck me is when they played the INITIAL interview with Ali & Bette-Sue; all I could think was - MY GOD is that ALI?? She'd worked so hard I didn't recognize the old fat Ali.
BTW - I have been to Mesa and its lovely. My late parents lived in Scottsdale and the Phoenix area was just phenomenal. I hope BOTH YOU and Ali keep up your training and get back to your lives... and then beat them Arizona men off with a stick!! ;)

I've watched BL every season, and this time around, I have to say, was one of the best! It was so good to see a female take spotlight as Biggest Loser. What a great inspiration to all of us chubby folks in America! This last season, with Ali being the winner, has greatly inspired me to loose the excess pounds I've put on sitting on that couch watching TV shows like this one! ha ha.
